Week One! :Of my 2012 Goal: My School!!! ( only 51 weeks to go!)

Week One: (only 51 to go!) of my 2012 goal of developing and laying the ground work for the launching of the Hubbard School of Sewing and Creative Arts in 2013--- I've met with a young small business consultant and successful entrepreneur on Tuesday evening...her gave me great advice and although quite young ...he shared with me some incredible wisdom! Today I will meet with a potential business partner…whew!!! This is scary, scary stuff (yet, exciting stuff) …but like always… I just keep telling myself…with God all things are possible!!! So I am moving forward!!!

Footnote: ..well the potential business partner didn't work out...we'll continue to support each other but we have different visions. However,we committed to meeting bi-monthly to keep each other encouraged and focused.

Now that is a good partnership!!!

Moving Forward!!!! Soooo! excited!!!

Can't wait to see how God's gonna open doors, make divine connections and provide during this another journey!!!

I am feeling so good that I am gonna quote myself:

My Personal Vision Statement

My personal vision is to leave life better than I found it… better than how I have previously experienced it…and enjoy the remainder of my life to the fullest. To embrace my maturity, yet dream with the abandon of a child! To never stop working at becoming my optimum self: physically, emotionally, intellectually, creatively and most importantly spiritually. To that end, I will maintain a lifestyle of healthy living, self-affirmation, determination, and action! I will retire“refired” and financially sound, start my school, and love again. I want to be a living legacy for my grandchildren! My faith in God , obtaining my goal weight and staying physically fit are foundational to accomplishing this vision. I believe that I can do all things through and by the power and grace of Christ who strengthens me.

Artist Statement / About Me

CREATIVITY is hard wired in my DNA. It is my life’s blood and blessing. Creativity is the force that drives my passion to experiment with new art forms and my curiosity to work with and combine different mediums. Captivated by the textures of fibers and textiles, mesmerized by the beautiful colors of beads, and intrigued by the promise of a found object, my creative nature has led to my interest in bead, fiber, and mixed media arts. For over 30 years, my creative journey has been a glorious discovery of mediums, techniques and the evolution of my art.

I am an African American, culturally inspired fantasy mixed-media 3-D Fiber Artist, creating one of a kind figurative sculptures using fabric with an array of other mediums. I also creates using, bead and mixed media embroidery, hand and machine felting, fabric dyeing, painting, stamping and manipulation. My other areas of interest include: collage, polymer and paper clays, mosaic tiles, jewelry making and scrapbooking.
